It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a team that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their hitters to possess a record if not afforded the possibility.

Finally, the result of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a platform to produce her newest gem.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort is debatable.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because I feel like my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the right-hander was in motion.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was out her side needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we know we can succeed."

Those words will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this tournament should hear.

During the last week a sense they will win from any position has grown stronger - this victory succeeding win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as skipper.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
