The UK airline to provide no-cost quick in-flight internet through satellite partnership

Travelers aboard British Airways are set to access fast internet onboard without charge due to a major deal from SpaceX's satellite company.

Free plus High-speed Connectivity Across the Board

The carrier announced that this free, “reliable and lightning-fast” connectivity offering from Starlink becomes offered to travelers flying coach, business, and premium cabins from next month.

Widespread Rollout Throughout Multiple Carriers

The umbrella organization of British Airways, International Airlines Group, stated it had finalized an agreement with Starlink to provide connectivity access for over 500 jets across the group's operators, including the Irish airline, Iberia, plus the low-cost airline.

Smooth Connectivity starting at Gate to Arrival

British Airways stated that this implementation of this system was part of a seven billion pound “transformation” plan and will provide uninterrupted wifi coverage for travelers starting at boarding through landing, even when they are flying across oceans and isolated areas.

Passengers may hook up multiple electronics and won't need to need a separate password.

“Gamechanging for the airline as well as our customers, improving the journey during flights on BA by giving passengers continuous wifi from gate to gate.”

Current Connectivity Offerings

Restricted wifi access is currently offered for British Airways flyers through the majority of the airline's planes using its .air service.

Participants of the airline's loyalty club are able to send communications plus text-only correspondence onboard at no cost, while passengers looking to watch audio, films, or content during the journey if not flying in business or first may be charged from £4.99 to £21.99 for a connectivity bundle.

SpaceX maintains a constellation comprising thousands with satellites and it's run by the billionaire's SpaceX.

Recent Improvements at BA

The airline's management has been focusing to improve British Airways around after a long time of cost cutting, technology issues, labor disputes, plus mass redundancies.

British Airways noted that implementation with AI had helped the airline to bring its punctuality at the best levels since 2012.

Financial Results

In August, the carrier disclosed a rise for financial performance during the first six months recently, helping to push its owner results higher.

International Airlines Group will announce their financial performance covering Q3 from July to September on Friday.

Recent SpaceX Agreements

The airline's announcement comes days following mobile phone carrier the telecom firm announced it was partnering alongside SpaceX to improve cellular service in rural parts of the UK, letting consumers to automatically hook up phones using space-based systems in the absence of standard cellular service is available.
